FAQs

Why Sensory Play?

We have a whole page dedicated to this one! Click here to read all about the benefits of open-ended play and sensory play!

What ages of kids can play?

Parental discretion is of the utmost importance. You know your kids best! binSpire sensory bins are for ages 3 and up due to small parts that are choking hazards. “My First” sensory kits are for ages 6 months and up. Messy play events are for toddlers who are able to explore on their own up to 8 years old. Older siblings up to 10yo may register to play, too, as long as they’ll be respectful to the smaller kids.

What can I expect in each bin?

Bins vary widely, but there are a few elements you will almost always find in any binSpire bin, whether it’s a rental bin or a mini bin for purchase. These include filler(s), fine motor tool(s), a container of some sort, and toys of some sort. Each of these elements play a part in making the bin engaging and educational.

Where is binSpire located?

binSpire headquarters is located at 119 E Main St. in Anamosa, IA.

How do I get my bins?

Most packages ship through USPS while others may go through UPS or Fedex. If you’re local, you can choose local pickup in Anamosa.

How do I keep track of the pieces? What if my kids break or lose something?

Each rental bin includes a sheet with a written checklist and color photos of each item included in the bin. You and your child(ren) can work together to go over the list and make sure everything is present before returning your bin.

A normal level of wear and tear is expected and we know items are going to break every now and then. Anything outside of normal wear and tear will be the client’s responsibility to pay for replacement. The decision on “normal” wear and tear is up to the discretion of binSpire LLC.

If items are missing from the bin upon return, we will first text to ask you to please look for them. Many times they’ll be found and can be sent back with your next return. No prob! If items are not returned, clients will be responsible to pay for the replacement.

What if I love a bin and want to buy it?

At the moment, the larger bins and refills for Sensory Swap are only available for rent. Exceptions may be made for a bulk order. Contact Hanna for more details. In the meantime, you can find mini bins and other items for purchase here or in person at vendor events and binSpire events.

Do I get to keep the height-adjustable play table?

The rental play tables are due back within 7 days after your subscription ends or you will be charged to replace it. If you’d like to purchase a new Kingdom Playroom Carry Play Table to keep, you can buy one from us here.

What if I lost my Sensory Swap pre-paid return label?

You can get a new label via email. Just contact hanna@binspirellc.com

What happens at a messy play event?

We get messy!! We’ll meet up at the event location outside. We’ll bring paint, water, mud, and other fun stuff. The kiddos get an immersive sensory experience at their own comfort-level. The activities are child-led and open-ended. Your child can take the lead and play in whatever manner they desire. Most events are scheduled for 90 minutes, but 45 minutes is usually sufficient. So, if you’re running late or your kid is ‘done’ early, absolutely no problem at all!

Does binSpire do birthday parties? What about play dates?

Yes! We can do birthday parties, play dates, and even messy play events at your home or event venue. In the near future, we’ll also be able to have sensory play events at binSpire headquarters in Anamosa. Contact Hanna for more info.

Do you have recommendations for other open-ended play for kids?
